Historic March Heat Wave Shatters Temperature Records Across 17 US States

A historic March heat wave swept the United States, with at least 17 states shattering all-time March temperature records. Scientists say the event would be virtually impossible without climate change.

This March, the United States saw historic heat wave hot temperatures break out in many places. At least 17 states set new March-on-record high temperature records. Arizona and California recorded extreme temperatures exceeding 44 degrees Celsius (112 Fahrenheit), setting new US-wide March records. According to statistics, US meteorological agencies recorded more than 15,000 daily heat new records in March. Meteorologists pointed out that this heat wave was triggered by the strongest high-pressure system in recorded history in the southwestern United States. Analysts state that such extreme heat waves would be virtually impossible to occur without climate change. Scientists further point out that due to greenhouse gas emissions, the probability of occurrence of this type of extreme weather events has already increased by approximately four times.
