Workers on the Long Island Rail Road reached a deal with the MTA on Monday, ending a strike that shut down service for hundreds of thousands of commuters. Limited service will resume Tuesday, May 19.
Two major U.S. power companies, NextEra and Dominion, announced a merger with a transaction value reaching $67 billion.
This is the largest public utility merger and acquisition case in U.S. history.
After the merger, the new company will become the largest electricity producer across the United States.
Under the agreement, NextEra will hold 74.5 percent of the merged company's shares.
Dominion shareholders will receive the remaining 25.5 percent in shares and cash compensation.
Both parties stated that after the merger, they will retain the Dominion brand in Virginia.
NextEra committed to retaining all Dominion employees within 18 months of completing the merger.
Additionally, Virginia customers will receive $1.778 billion in bill credits within two years after the merger.
This transaction is expected to be completed in 2027, pending shareholder and regulatory authority approval.
