India beat New Zealand by 96 runs in the T20 World Cup 2026 final on March 8 in Ahmedabad, winning the championship for a third time and becoming the first team in history to successfully defend the title.

On March 8, the T20 World Cup final was held in the Indian city of Ahmedabad. The India cricket team and New Zealand cricket team met in the final. India batted first and eventually scored 255 runs. Samson impressively scored 89 runs with 46 balls. The New Zealand team chased the score but only scored 159 runs. India won the match with a 96-run margin. Bumrah's bowling was excellent, taking 4 wickets. This is the third time the India cricket team has won the T20 World Cup championship. India is also the first team to successfully defend a T20 World Cup title.
