A research team from Denmark and Australia found that an unknown bacteriophage living inside common gut bacteria Bacteroides fragilis may be linked to colorectal cancer. Analysis of 877 participants showed significantly higher levels of the bacteriophage in cancer patients compared to healthy individuals.
