Science & TechnologyChina-Europe SMILE Satellite Launch Postponed
The China-Europe joint science satellite SMILE, originally scheduled to launch on April 9, has been postponed due to a technical issue. A new launch date has not yet been confirmed.
The SMILE satellite jointly developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the European Space Agency was originally scheduled to launch from French Guiana on April 9. However, the European Space Agency recently announced that due to a technical problem with one rocket component, the launch has been postponed. SMILE will be sent into orbit by Europe's Vega-C rocket. The new launch date has not yet been confirmed. SMILE is the first large-scale joint space science mission between China and Europe. This satellite will use soft X-rays to perform global imaging of Earth's magnetosphere for the first time. Scientists hope this can help humanity better understand the influence of solar wind on Earth.
