President Xi Jinping attended the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance in Shanghai, emphasizing international cooperation on artificial intelligence development and governance.

President Xi Jinping attended the World Artificial Intelligence Conference held in Shanghai from July 17 to 20. In his opening remarks, he emphasized that international society should strengthen cooperation on artificial intelligence development. He stressed that no single country should monopolize AI technology. China has made its open-source AI models such as Qwen and DeepSeek widely accessible, significantly reducing the global cost of AI technology adoption. China has proposed strengthening talent cultivation and AI capacity-building collaboration with Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
