Six US States Hold Primaries on Same Day as Battle for Congress Heats Up

Alabama, Georgia and four other US states held midterm primary elections on May 19th, with results set to influence the balance of power in both chambers of Congress.

On May 19th, six U.S. states held midterm primary elections simultaneously, including Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Oregon, and Pennsylvania.

These primary elections will determine the candidates for the fall congressional elections.

In Georgia, former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms leads the Democratic gubernatorial primary.

Intense competition also emerged within Republican ranks, as Trump-backed candidates launched challenges against multiple incumbent lawmakers.

Kentucky's Democratic primary for a Senate seat represents a significant contest, as the state has not had a Democratic senator for more than 25 years.

Analysts believe this round of primaries will test Trump's control over the Republican Party.
