Trump Cancels US Delegation Trip to Pakistan, US-Iran Nuclear Talks Fall Into Deadlock

US President Trump on April 25 canceled a delegation trip to Pakistan for second-round talks with Iran, citing excessive travel time and unresolved Iranian internal divisions.

US President Trump announced on April 25 that he was canceling a planned US delegation trip to Islamabad, Pakistan.

This visit was originally to be led by Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law and advisor Jared Kushner.

Trump cited two main reasons for the cancellation: the long flight time—a one-way trip requires at least 17 hours—and internal disagreements within Iran.

About one hour before Trump's announcement, Iran's Foreign Minister Araghchi had already left Islamabad. Prior to this, he had briefed Pakistani officials on Iran's latest proposal.

Iranian President Pezeshkian subsequently declared that Iran would not participate in forced negotiations under pressure and threats.

Currently, the US military continues to maintain a blockade against Iranian ports at sea and has already intercepted multiple vessels that failed to comply with orders.
