US and China Hold Trade Talks in Paris Ahead of Trump-Xi Summit

US and Chinese officials held two days of trade talks in Paris, discussing issues including agriculture and energy. The talks were aimed at preparing for President Trump visit to Beijing at the end of March to meet with Xi Jinping.

Officials from the United States and China held trade talks in Paris, France.

The talks took place March 15 to 16, 2026.

US Treasury Secretary Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng attended the talks.

Both countries' officials discussed issues including agriculture, energy, and trade.

Bessent stated that this round of talks was very good.

The Chinese side also believed the talks were candid, in-depth, and constructive.

The purpose of this meeting was to prepare for President Trump's visit to China.

Trump plans to travel to Beijing by the end of March to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
