UN Reopens Khartoum Headquarters for First Time Since 2023 War

The UN has reopened its headquarters in Khartoum, Sudan, for the first time since war broke out in 2023 and forced it to relocate to Port Sudan.

On April 5, the United Nations reopened its headquarters in Khartoum, Sudan. The headquarters is located in Khartoum, the capital city of Sudan. In 2023, Sudan experienced war. At that time, United Nations staff members left Khartoum and went to Port Sudan. Now, the situation in Khartoum has improved somewhat. United Nations staff members want to return to help the Sudanese people. However, many places in Sudan still have danger. The United Nations said they will continue to help Sudanese refugees.
