SK Hynix Posts Record First-Quarter Profit Driven by AI Memory Demand

South Korean chipmaker SK Hynix reported first-quarter 2026 results with operating profit up 405% year-over-year, setting a historic record driven by AI-related high-bandwidth memory demand.

SK Hynix announced Q1 2026 financial results on April 24, with company revenue reaching KRW 52.6 trillion, growing 198 percent year-over-year.

Operating profit grew even more dramatically at 405 percent, reaching KRW 37.6 trillion, setting a new all-time record.

The growth is primarily driven by strong demand from AI data centers for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips.

SK Hynix is the world's largest producer of high-bandwidth memory, with products widely used in AI servers and data centers.

The company announced it will build a new factory in Cheongju, South Korea, planned to be completed and operational by late 2027.
