Samsung Electronics released its Q1 2026 financial report on April 30, with all key indicators reaching all-time record highs. Operating revenue reached 133.9 trillion Korean won, with operating profit of 57.2 trillion Korean won, representing year-on-year growth exceeding seven times.
The semiconductor division's performance was particularly outstanding. Operating profit surged from 1.1 trillion Korean won in the same period last year to 53.7 trillion Korean won, achieving a growth rate of 48 times. Memory product sales revenue increased 292% year-on-year and 101% quarter-on-quarter.
This growth is mainly attributed to surging demand for memory chips driven by the global AI data center construction boom. Samsung's Q1 operating profit margin exceeded 70%, higher than chip giants Nvidia and TSMC.
Analysts point out that ongoing tightness in memory supply has pushed up chip prices. In the short term, this trend is expected to be difficult to reverse.
