US Investigates Suspected Nvidia Chip Smuggling Network Routing Chips Through Thailand to China

US authorities are investigating a suspected network that allegedly routed approximately $2.5 billion worth of Nvidia AI chips through Thailand to China in violation of US export controls, with Alibaba reported to be linked to the supply chain.

According to Bloomberg, US authorities are currently investigating a case of alleged smuggling of Nvidia artificial intelligence servers, suspected of circumventing export controls.

The network involved in the case reportedly transported approximately $2.5 billion worth of Nvidia AI servers via Thailand to China.

The investigation focuses on OBON Corp, headquartered in Bangkok, as well as personnel associated with Super Micro Computer.

According to reports, Alibaba has been listed as an associated party in the supply chain, though the company has formally denied any involvement in the case.

US prosecutors filed criminal charges against the involved personnel in March 2026.
