Science & TechnologyMicrosoft CEO Nadella Testifies in Musk vs OpenAI Trial
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella testified on May 11th at federal court in Oakland regarding the Elon Musk lawsuit against OpenAI.
In the third week of May, specifically on May 11th, in the federal court of Oakland, California in the United States, court proceedings opened in the lawsuit filed by Elon Musk against OpenAI.
Microsoft's Chief Executive Officer, Satya Nadella, testified in court. He stated that Elon Musk never expressed any objection to Microsoft's investment in OpenAI to him.
In court, Nadella defended OpenAI's transition into a for-profit organization, arguing that without a commercial funding structure, OpenAI would find it difficult to achieve its ambitious artificial intelligence goals.
He also disclosed that in 2022, before Microsoft's additional $10 billion investment in OpenAI, he had been concerned in an internal email that Microsoft might become the next IBM.
Musk, in the lawsuit, accused OpenAI of abandoning its promise to remain a non-profit organization.
Regarding the 2023 incident when OpenAI CEO Altman was briefly dismissed, Nadella characterized the entire affair as being handled in an extremely amateurish manner.
Altman is expected to testify in court beginning this week.
