Microsoft and OpenAI Revise Partnership to End Exclusive Licensing Arrangement

Microsoft and OpenAI announced a revised partnership, changing the license to non-exclusive and allowing OpenAI to offer services on more cloud platforms.

Microsoft and OpenAI announced modifications to their cooperation agreement, ending the previously exclusive partnership lasting many years. According to the new agreement, Microsoft will continue to hold authorization for OpenAI technology until 2032, but the authorization will change to non-exclusive. This means OpenAI can provide services to other cloud platform customers, no longer limited to Microsoft's Azure. Previously, OpenAI already signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Amazon, with Amazon committing to invest up to 50 billion dollars. Analysts believe this adjustment marks further intensification of competition in the artificial intelligence cloud market.
