Meta Acquires Robot AI Startup to Accelerate Humanoid Development

Meta announced on May 1 the acquisition of robotics AI startup Assured Robot Intelligence to advance its humanoid robot strategy. The startup team will join Meta Superintelligence Labs.

Meta announced on May 1st that it is acquiring robotics AI startup Assured Robot Intelligence (ARI). ARI focuses on developing robot foundation models capable of understanding, predicting, and adapting to human behavior. ARI's co-founder Xiaolong Wang previously served as a researcher at NVIDIA and associate professor at UC San Diego. After the acquisition, the ARI team will join Meta's Superintelligence Labs research division. Meta stated that this acquisition will accelerate its research and development progress in the humanoid robot field. Previously, Amazon acquired robotics company Fauna in March, showing that competition among tech giants in the humanoid robot race is increasingly fierce.
