China & WorldKing Charles III to Pay State Visit to the United States in Late April
Buckingham Palace announced on March 31, 2026 that King Charles III and Queen Camilla will make a state visit to the United States in late April. It will be the first state visit by a British monarch to the US since 2007.
On April 1, 2026, NASA successfully launched the Artemis II spacecraft. This is the first crewed mission to the Moon since Apollo 17 in 1972. The spacecraft carries four astronauts from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Among the four astronauts, three are from the United States and one is from Canada. The mission lasts approximately ten days, with astronauts flying around the Moon once before returning to Earth.
Astronaut Victor Glover became the first person of color to fly beyond low Earth orbit. Christina Koch became the first female astronaut to carry out this type of mission. Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen became the first non-American astronaut to travel to the Moon.
NASA stated that the successful completion of this mission will establish important foundations for future astronauts to land on the Moon.
