Google Releases Gemma 4, Claiming It Is the Most Powerful Open-Source AI Model

Google released Gemma 4 in early April, a family of open AI models currently ranked third among open models worldwide. The models use an Apache 2.0 license and support commercial use.

The model supports over 140 languages with a context window length of up to 256,000 characters.

Gemma 4 uses the Apache 2.0 license, which allows developers to use it freely for commercial purposes.

Since the release of the first generation Gemma model, developers have already downloaded it over 400 million times.
