DOJ Rules Google Has Search Monopoly

US Justice Department with multiple states jointly filed antitrust lawsuit against Google achieved major victory in August 2024. Federal district court judge Amit Mehta determined Google accounts approximately 90 percent United States search query market. Through signing exclusive agreements with Apple, Samsung and carriers, Google ensured its position default search engine. According reports, Google annually pays Apple approximately 18 to 20 billion US dollars. This ruling regarded major blow against technology industry monopoly practices.
