CrowdStrike update causes global IT outage

On July 19, 2024, a CrowdStrike software update caused approximately 8.5 million Windows computers to crash globally, disrupting airlines, banks, hospitals, and other critical services.

CrowdStrike is a network security company that provides protection to computers worldwide.

However, on July 19, CrowdStrike sent out a faulty update. This caused many computers to fail to operate normally.

Subsequently, hospitals, banks, and airline companies were all affected by this incident.

This represents the largest information technology failure in history.
