Chinese Navy Video Hints at Nuclear-Powered Fourth Aircraft Carrier

On the 77th anniversary of the Chinese Navy founding, China released a propaganda video hinting at the construction of its first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.

On April 23, China officially released a navy promotional video coinciding with the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army Navy.

In the video, a new recruit named He Jian encounters three commissioned aircraft carrier officers, sparking widespread speculation.

Analysts pointed out that He Jian's name is a homophone in Chinese with "nuclear vessel," hinting that the PLA's next aircraft carrier will use nuclear propulsion.

According to open-source intelligence, China's fourth aircraft carrier is currently under construction at the Dalian Shipyard, with an overall progress rate of approximately 25 percent.

The vessel is estimated to have a displacement of 120,000 tons, exceeding the US Ford-class aircraft carrier, and will be equipped with dual nuclear reactors, expected to enter service around 2030.

Meanwhile, the navy opened more than 40 active-duty warships across 10 national ports for public visits.
