China Approves 15th Five-Year Plan with AI as Key Strategic Industry

China National People Congress approved the 15th Five-Year Plan covering 2026 to 2030, designating AI as a core strategic industry and projecting that AI-related industries will exceed 10 trillion yuan in output value by 2030.

China's National People Congress reviewed and approved the 15th Five-Year Plan, which covers 2026 to 2030 and outlines the country's economic and technological development directions. This plan designates artificial intelligence as a core strategic industry and introduces the "AI Plus" action plan, aiming to integrate AI technology into various industries and sectors. According to government forecasts, by 2030, China's AI-related industry output value is expected to exceed 10 trillion yuan. The plan also emphasizes support for six major emerging industries including integrated circuits, low-altitude economy, and intelligent robots. The government has set 2026 economic growth targets at 4.5% to 5%, and State Council Premier Li Qiang stated that favorable conditions exist to achieve these goals.
