China National People Congress approved the 15th Five-Year Plan covering 2026 to 2030, designating AI as a core strategic industry and projecting that AI-related industries will exceed 10 trillion yuan in output value by 2030.

China's National People Congress reviewed and approved the 15th Five-Year Plan, which covers 2026 to 2030 and outlines the country's economic and technological development directions. This plan designates artificial intelligence as a core strategic industry and introduces the "AI Plus" action plan, aiming to integrate AI technology into various industries and sectors. According to government forecasts, by 2030, China's AI-related industry output value is expected to exceed 10 trillion yuan. The plan also emphasizes support for six major emerging industries including integrated circuits, low-altitude economy, and intelligent robots. The government has set 2026 economic growth targets at 4.5% to 5%, and State Council Premier Li Qiang stated that favorable conditions exist to achieve these goals. Commerce Minister Wang Wentao pledged to strengthen intellectual property protection and improve policy transparency to further attract foreign investment.
