Beijing Bans Drone Sales and Flights Without Government Approval

New Beijing rules effective May 1 ban the sale, rental, and flight of drones across the city without government approval. All drone flights require prior authorization from authorities.

Beijing began banning the buying and selling of drones starting May 1st. In Beijing, flying drones requires government approval. Without approval, one cannot buy, rent, or fly drones. After the new regulations were announced, many stores' drones sold out. People who already own drones need to register them. Agricultural and rescue operations can apply for flight permits.
