ASML Export Restrictions to China
ASML company is a global critical supplier of chip manufacturing equipment. Its lithography equipment is an essential tool for chip production. Under US pressure, the Dutch government withdrew ASML export licenses for DUV lithography equipment to China in early 2024. Previously, the US had already restricted ASML from exporting EUV extreme ultraviolet lithography machines to China. DUV equipment restrictions mean China faces even more difficulty obtaining advanced chip manufacturing technology. Industry observers point out this move further strengthens US and allied suppression of Chinas chip industry.
