Science & TechnologyArm Launches First Data Center Chip, Entering the AI Infrastructure Market
UK-based chip design company Arm released its first self-developed data center processor, the AGI CPU, on March 24 — the first time in the 35-year history of the company it has offered its own chip product.
Arm company officially released the AGI CPU on March 24th, marking the first time in the company's 35-year history to launch a proprietary chip product.
This processor adopts TSMC's 3-nanometer manufacturing process, with up to 136 built-in Neoverse V3 cores.
Meta company is a joint development partner for the AGI CPU and will use this chip to optimize its large-scale data center infrastructure.
Under standard configuration, each blade server contains two chips, together providing 272 processing cores. A standard server rack can accommodate 30 blade servers, totaling more than 8,000 processing cores.
The chip supports 12-channel DDR5 memory with aggregate memory bandwidth exceeding 800 GB per second.
Lenovo, Supermicro, and ASRockRack have already begun accepting commercial orders for AGI CPU server systems.
Arm's CEO stated that the AGI CPU business is expected to bring approximately $15 billion in revenue to the company before 2031.
