Apple and Intel have reportedly reached a preliminary agreement for Intel to manufacture chips for Apple devices, marking the most significant contract yet for the Intel foundry business.

According to reports from The Wall Street Journal, Apple and Intel have reached a preliminary agreement on semiconductor contract manufacturing. The negotiations have lasted over one year, during which President Trump reportedly personally lobbied Apple CEO Tim Cook to support the partnership.

Currently, all of Apple's high-end chips are manufactured by TSMC under contract. If the agreement is ultimately implemented, Intel is expected to begin producing Mac and iPad chips for Apple as early as 2027.

Following the announcement of this news, Intel's stock price surged approximately 14%, while Apple's stock price also rose about 2%.

This partnership is regarded as an important signal for Intel's efforts to revitalize its contract manufacturing business.
