Apple iPhone Production in India Reaches 25 Percent of Global Output, Expansion Accelerates

Apple iPhones produced in India now account for about 25 percent of global output, a 53 percent year-on-year increase. Apple plans to shift the majority of US-bound iPhone assembly to India before the end of 2026 to reduce tariff exposure.

According to reports, Apple Inc. currently produces iPhones in India that already account for approximately 25% of global total production output. Last year, Apple iPhone production in India grew year-on-year by approximately 53%, setting an all-time record high. To respond to US tariffs on Chinese goods, Apple Inc. is currently accelerating supply chain transfer pace. Apple plans to transfer the majority of iPhones aimed at the US market to India for assembly by end of 2026. The Indian government launched new production incentive policies to attract more Apple suppliers to invest and build factories in India. However, Apple overall production proportion in China currently remains approximately 80%, with short-term significant decline difficult. Analysts stated that this production strategy shift will profoundly impact the China-India electronics product supply chain landscape.
