Apple Marks Its 50th Anniversary With Global Celebrations

Apple Inc. turned 50 years old on April 1, 2026. The company marked the milestone with special events at Apple Stores around the world.

The World Health Organization in Geneva convened the sixth intergovernmental working group meeting. Member states agreed to extend negotiations on key annexes to the Pandemic Agreement after the meeting concluded.

The core agenda item of these negotiations is the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing mechanism, known as PABS provisions. Various parties still have disagreements regarding the scope of benefit sharing and contract arrangement methods. Extended negotiations are scheduled for April 27 to May 1 in Geneva.

Meanwhile, all parties will conduct informal consultations before the formal meeting. Official sources stated that this extension decision embodies member states' political willingness to complete negotiations. The Pandemic Agreement was already passed by the World Health Assembly in May 2025, aimed at addressing shortcomings in global pandemic response.

Analysts pointed out that the final PABS mechanism design will directly affect the agreement's actual implementation effectiveness.
